Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you take insurance?
We do not accept insurance. This allows us to keep our prices affordable and prioritize care of our patients. We are happy to provide a superbill to submit to insurance as an out of network claim for those not enrolled on Medicare or Medicaid/Badgercare. HSA/FSA accounts can be used for our services. Please inquire for payment plans or sliding scale options.
  • Why can't you see patients who have Medicaid/Badgercare or Medicare?
Unfortunately, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) stipulates in its contract with doctors that if a patient carries this insurance, the doctor cannot see patients at one institution and bill Medicare and see patients at another institution and charge cash. Doing so would be considered medicare fraud. While Dr. Angela is growing Tallgrass, she is also working very part time at urgent care to provide for her family, so at this time she cannot see patients at Tallgrass who have Badgercare or Medicare. She hopes this will change in early 2025. If you have one of these insurances, please place your name on our waitlist and we will contact you when we are ready to enroll! Please note, we will not be billing Medicare or Medicaid, so the monthly membership fee (possibly with support from our health equity fund) will still be expected.
  • What are your COVID policies?
We follow the most up to date CDC guidelines around COVID testing, isolation and exposure. Masks are encouraged but not required. If you have symptoms of an upper respiratory infection / common cold, please proceed with a home or PCR COVID test. If negative, you can come to your appointment with a mask. As always, please inquire with questions. We understand children are frequently sick and want to do our best to provide care while protecting each other and the community.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
At least 24-hour notification of cancellation is required. Without notification, full fee will be charged for those not enrolled as members of Tallgrass DPC. Exceptions are made in cases of illness. Please call/text/email Dr. Marchant ASAP if illness arises to determine if treatment should continue as planned or with need to reschedule.
  • Do you offer home visits?
Yes, home visits are available for an additional fee, usually $50 depending on location. Please contact us if you're interested and we can schedule directly. Home visits are included as needed for DPC members.
  • Do you have to be enrolled as a primary care member to have a visit?
No! Dr. Angela can do a one-time visit for things like sports physicals, urgent care needs etc. The cost is $150 per visit and requires enrollment with a complete medical history before scheduling. If later you decide to become a DPC member, the membership enrollment fee is waived.
  • What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care is a model of healthcare that prioritizes the physican-patient relationship. Patients pay a monthly fee, much like a gym membership, in exchange for increased accessibility and affordability to their primary care physician. Insurance is not billed. Learn more here. Dr. Marchant is opening a direct primary care practice as part of Tallgrass Osteopathy in Summer 2024. If you are interested, please place your name on the waitlist here!
  • What is the cost for your Direct Primary Care membership?
Monthly fees are based on age. $100 enrollment fee and $200 per family $25/month for ages 0-19 (if no adult enrolled, fee is $50/month) $50/month for ages 20-39 $75/month for ages 40-59 $100/month for ages 60+
  • Do you take insurance?
No. Direct primary care is a relationship between you and your doctor. Period. There is no insurance company in the exam room. We strongly recommend you still have insurance (or an alternative such as a health share) to cover unexpected care (emergencies, surgeries, specialists), but 80-90%+ of your care can be provided by your primary care doctor.
  • What is the cost per visit?
Any visits, texts, emails, calls etc with Dr. Angela are all included in your monthly membership fee. Yes, it is that affordable!
  • What about tests like bloodwork and xrays or visits with specialists?
Labs Dr. Angela has a contract with LabCorp, a national lab company, and can offer wholesale costs of labs to patients. Patients are expected to pay for these labs as part of their monthly invoice. As an example, a complete blood count (CBC), a very common test done to check for anemia or infection, is approximately $2 per test, and some patients have paid $100+ for this test alone when using insurance. The DPC membership pays for itself! If you prefer to have bloodwork done in the system under your insurance, Dr. Angela can work with you to send orders or facilitate making this happen. Imaging We do not have xray or other imaging available at this time. We can refer you to MH imaging, an independent imaging center in Middleton which offers prompt appointments and affordable cash prices. Alternatively, we can send orders to the system for you to complete any necessary testing there. Referrals Dr. Angela can gladly fax an order to refer you to specialists in the system. She also has the ability to electronically consult specialists for a virtual opinion for a small fee.
  • What is Osteopathic Medicine?
Doctors of Osteopathy (DOs) are physicians who, along with MDs, are licensed to prescribe medication and perform surgery in all 50 states. DOs get additional training in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), a hands-on approach to help the body heal. The physician's understanding of anatomy and physiology are integral to the treatment. Osteopathic Medicine is the application of osteopathic philosophy and treatment in medical practice. The tenets of osteopathy include: The body is a unit; the person is a unit of body, mind, and spirit. The body is capable of self-regulation, self-healing, and health maintenance. Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated. Rational treatment is based upon an understanding of the basic principles of body unity, self-regulation, and the interrelationship of structure and function.
  • How is OMT different than chiropractic or other bodywork?
OMT varies depending on the physician's preferred treatment modalities and lineage of training. Dr. Marchant has a very gentle approach and does not usually do high velocity snap crackle pop treatments like a chiropractor. Some modalities she utilizes include myofascial release, balanced ligamentous tension and craniosacral osteopathy. Touch is light, sometimes painful temporarily, and generally very comforting. A significant difference is that osteopathic treatment, and in particular cranial osteopathy, is grounded in neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, providing patients with a comprehensive evaluation of their presenting problem. The aim is to find the root of the concern to provide long-lasting relief and healing.
  • What are the costs for a OMT appointment?
Initial consults are $300 and follow-up visits are $150. DPC members receive a 50% discount. See more details here.
  • How often are OMT appointments?
Every patient is unique, and everyone responds differently. However we often find that adults require 4-6 treatments at 2-4+ week intervals. Children usually require fewer visits. Some patients improve after one treatment, most require several. Sometimes the initial concern does not improve, but other problems arise and dissipate. Once through initial treatment, some patients benefit from regular follow up monthly or quarterly.
  • What should I bring to my OMT appointment?
Please complete intake history form prior to your appointment. Bring any necessary medical records including imaging reports and a list of current medications, if not already provided on the intake form. Wear comfortable fitting clothes. You will not need to undress. Payment is required at the time of your visit via cash, check, Venmo or Zelle.
  • What will happen during my OMT appointment?
After reviewing your medical history with you, Dr. Marchant will perform any necessary medical physical exam, followed by hands on osteopathic examination and treatment. You will lay fully clothed on the treatment table while she examines the bones, muscles, ligaments, connective tissue (fascia), joints, fluid and nervous system of your body. She will gently and precisely use her hands to work with your body to resolve areas of strain to promote normal body function.
  • How do I know if OMT will address my issue?
Please contact us with any questions. A 10-min phone call to determine if OMT is appropriate treatment option is available on request.
